If you’ve been waiting for a call from your local Chevy dealership that your Corvette is off the assembly line and ready for pickup, you might have to wait a little longer. Mother nature paused the production of this fantasy-worthy sports in early December.
Several tornados swept through the South and Midwest parts of the U.S., leaving a wake of wreckage and destruction along its path. These storms caused the death of over 90 people and laid waste to entire towns.
Tornados don’t just cause damage from high winds. There are indirect issues caused when a storm blows through. In the case of the Chevy production plant, the passing tornado caused a massive fire that decimated the roof and employee entrance of the plant. Luckily, all of the on-site employees during the tornado are safe.
This Kentucky-based plant is going to have to wait until repairs are made to resume work on the Corvette line. Leadership expects the work to start immediately, and they plan to be back in business in about a week.
That new Corvette might be delayed, so you might have to surprise that special someone with a picture of their new sports car this holidays season. There won’t be any excitement lost.
A Sports Car Worth Waiting For
The newest version of America’s favorite sports car is definitely worth the wait, regardless of whatever delays may come. This year represents the first year that your Chevy dealership will offer the C8.R race car. This special edition can be equipped with a limited-edition appearance package inspired by the IMSA GTLM championship Corvette. There will only be 1,000 units built under this name.
Even if you don’t go for the limited-edition Corvette, you’ll still enjoy the new additions to this popular sports car: available low-profile rear spoiler, a host of new exterior colors, and a newly designed fuel pump and fuel injector.
The Need For Speed
The incredible powertrain makes the Corvette the jewel of any Chevy dealership. Chevy moved the engine from the front of the car to behind the passenger compartment. This new weight distribution makes the 6.2-liter V8 engine even more potent. You’ll enjoy 490 horsepower and 470 lb0ft of torque.
Have you ever jumped from a standstill to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds? The Corvette will get you there.
This two-seater isn’t just fast. It’s full of high-quality materials like leather, genuine metal trim, and more. The roof is even removable if you go with the coupe to create a truly memorable drive. Create even more memories by adding your favorite soundtrack to your cruise with the eight-inch touchscreen loaded with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
