Hyundai has been busy updating and redesigning its entire lineup of SUVs. 2022 is the year of the Hyundai Tucson.
That means this new edition is the most exciting version to date. The Tucson of the past was somewhat conservative, but the Tucson of the present is flashier and more fun than ever.
Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 Hyundai Tucson:
More Than Meets The Eye
You may not notice at first look, but the 2022 Tucson is 6.1 inches longer than it was before. The wheelbase has also increased by 3.4 inches, the passenger space by six cubic feet, and the cargo room is up by eight cubic feet.
These numbers may not seem like a big deal, but every little inch comes together to make a huge difference. That means more head and legroom for you and your passengers and tons more room for your gear.
Plenty of Performance Under The Hood
The Tucson now comes with three incredible powertrain options. The standard gasoline option is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a competitive 187 horsepower. This engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front or all-wheel drive.
If you’re looking for a greener ride, check out the available hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains. Both of these options come with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor. Both of these come with all-wheel drive as a standard feature. You can expect a massive 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque with this setup.
According to Hyundai, the hybrid engines are 30 percent more efficient than gas engines. That means you can expect up to 500 miles of range on a single tank. The plug-in hybrid should give you close to 28 miles of range on a full charge, and it will only take about two hours to restore that battery on a Level 2 charger.
A Fresh Design Inside and Out
The new Hyundai Tucson has updated style elements that you don’t want to miss: a larger grille, stacked headlights, full-width taillights, a rear spoiler, and more. Some of these elements are akin to what you’ll find on the updated Santa Fe or Palisade, but they all come together to make a new Tucson.
When you look inside, you’ll love the new pushbutton shifter and new dash. Make sure to explore the available 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment center and premium eight-speaker Bose sound system.
What’s Coming Next
While the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is full of amazing surprises, Hyundai isn’t done raising the bar with this popular SUV. Next on the docket is an N Line version of the Tucson. This performance-based SUV will have a more aggressive look inside and out.
