Evolving the Revolution with the New Toyota Corolla

When you think of the models that have been offered on the market from the Toyota brand recently, the first word that comes to mind could be polarizing. Think about the newest Prius with its angles and sharp edges, the variety of Lexus vehicles that show off the spindle grille up front, and the new look of the models that came from Scion to be part of the Toyota lineup. The next car to be updated and changed is the Toyota Corolla which is scheduled to enter a new generation for the 2020 model year and has already been out on the roads during testing.

This isn’t the first time the Corolla has been clad in camouflage to head out on the road for some tests to see if it will be ready for the next generation, but it is the first time it’s been easy to see and obtain photos of. Even though spy photographers tried to capture as much detail as possible about what the new look of the compact sedan will be for the drive on the road, the car was still heavily clad in materials that gave off very little of the details that we want to learn about.

Camo Can’t Stop the Conversation

Even though the testing model of the new Toyota Corolla was out in camouflage doesn’t mean we won’t speculate and put together an idea of what this car will look like for the next generation. The front end is expected to have a different look that will be aggressive and angular as it seems that’s the direction Toyota is heading with much of the designs of its vehicles. This may allow the new Corolla to look a lot like the Prius when it arrives for the 2020 model year.
The biggest change for this new compact sedan is the platform that will be used. The Corolla will be the next model to join the ranks of those Toyota models that are making use of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) which is currently used in the Camry, C-HR, and Prius. This should be perfect for the Corolla and help make it lighter and more agile on the roads when we drive. The power is still expected to come from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a hybrid model may be found in markets outside of North America when this car arrives on the scene.

What Else Will You See in the Next-Gen Toyota Corolla?

You can also expect to see changes to the cabin of the Corolla to bring you a larger infotainment screen, new controls, a list of basic driver assistance features, and more comfortable seats. Toyota has the daunting task of balancing the level of technology added to this car with the price point they want to maintain in a car that’s been known as one of the most affordable models we see on the market every year. If you’re looking for a new car in the compact sedan class and 2020 is when you’ll plan to buy a new model, the Corolla could be the right choice for you.
