2025 Ford Maverick: Capable and Practical
As almost everyone knows, Ford is pretty good at pickup trucks. The Ford Maverick takes elements of the midsize Ranger and the full-size F-150 and blends them into a compact and practical package. The Maverick comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder and a hybrid powertrain is newly optional. The hybrid setup has quickly gained fans hoping to save money at the pump.
The good news is that there isn’t much difference in payload or hauling capability between the hybrid and regular gas powertrains. AWD is optional with both powertrains and the Towing package enables the Maverick to tow up to 4,000 pounds. The Maverick has a short cargo bed, so it’s not the best choice for something bulky or long. However, it’s plenty capable of hauling a yard of mulch or a few bikes.
Inside the Ford Maverick, there’s enough room for four adults, though the second row is a bit tight for taller folks. As long as you buy a higher trim than the base XL, there are also plenty of niceties to make a pleasant driving experience.
Refreshed Performance and Styling
The Ford Maverick was already a refreshing model, but the new features for 2025 make it even more appealing. For 2025, a performance model called the Lobo joins the lineup. It features AWD and a turbo four-cylinder that makes 238 horsepower. It also comes with a lowered suspension and unique styling elements like 19-inch wheels.
The rest of the Maverick lineup also gets various styling tweaks for 2025, including a redesigned front grille, new wheel designs, and darkened headlight covers. New trim colors are on tap for the cabin, including the eye-catching Smoke Truffle theme on the Lariat trim. For tech features, a larger 13.2-inch infotainment screen replaces the previous eight-inch screen.
Other new features on the 2025 Ford Maverick include an available 360-degree camera system, more standard driver-assistance tech, and a more advanced adaptive cruise control system on the Lariat and Tremor trims.
Choose Your Ford Maverick
Ford offers a respectable amount of trims for the Maverick at five. The base XL trim is rather spartan with a starting price of around $28,000. However, if you move up to the XLT with a starting price of around $30,000, you’ll get some decent extras while keeping things affordable. It includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, power mirrors, and a power tailgate lock.
Moving up to the higher trims requires a fairly big jump in price with the Lariat up next at $38,430. The Tremor starts at $41,490 and the new Lobo trims starts at $42,190. Most of the creature comforts and niceties are found on the higher trims.
Ultimately, the Ford Maverick lives up to its name as a refreshing departure from all the large trucks on the market. It gives you the practicality of a pickup without the huge size and price.
