Hyundai is preparing for the Ioniq 5 N debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July by releasing its latest teaser campaign for the performance-driven electric hatchback.
This newest teaser release includes a sneak peek at some of the virtual downshift noises this all-electric vehicle has to offer. Included in this virtual noise suite is a simulated gear shift noise of a traditional internal combustion engine. In an effort to drum up excitement before the model hits your local Hyundai dealer, it’s safe to say the automaker has successfully done just that.
Hyundai Releases Second Episode of Anticipated Tease
The automaker has done a great job establishing a tease trailer to help drum up hype, I see that hasn’t been too difficult to achieve given the high anticipation from Hyundai lovers.
This news tease debuts under the second episode of the automaker’s ad campaign and includes the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N venturing out on its testing racetrack and on the roads of Seoul, Korea.
The tease includes the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N decked out in camouflage paint, leaving little mystery to the overall body style. Close-ups of the Tesla Style flush door handles and tech-driven dashboard are included in the tease as well, but it’s the simulated shifting noises that are meant to catch your attention.
Hyundai Successfully Replicates ICE Gearshifts in Ioniq 5 N
While the downshift noises have a very unique sound reminiscent of internal combustion engines, the tones offer a more modern and refined pitch to them. You’ll be able to hear the rumbling groan of the engine and the pitch increase that comes with acceleration. You’ll even be able to pick up on the subtle pops and bangs that tend to fade Into the background when you are driving a traditional gas-powered vehicle.
The simulation is so well done in this EV that it’s easy to forget that the sound is a result of the interface for the Virtual Grin Shift (VGS) and not actual engine noises.
The simulated sound setup is not at all an exaggeration of the Ioniq 5 N’s performance power either. This performance-based hatchback will feature a system that is designed to control drifting on the track known as an N Drift Optimizer. This control drifting is paired with enhancements on the rear axle and the N Torque Distribution system.
Hyundai Alludes to Most Powerful Ioniq 5 N Yet
Hyundai’s tease campaign also effectively drives home the notion that this will be the most powerful Hyundai yet. The model spotlighted in the tease is likely outfitted with dual electric motors that can deliver up to 600 horsepower as many analysts have predicted according to the info the automaker has unveiled.
Although Hyundai hasn’t fully released all the performance specs, it’s fair to assume drivers can expect an enhanced suspension system, a branded brake system, and other model-specific technologies and systems designed to power up the Ioniq 5 N to the fullest.
See What Hyundai Will Unveil Next
Before you make your way to your local Hyundai dealer, you’ll need to wait until the automaker finishes unveiling all that the Ioniq 5 N has to offer through their tease campaign.
This latest tease solely focuses on the EV’s acoustics and how they reflect the power of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. In the coming weeks, the automaker is set to release the third episode of its tease campaign. In it, Hyundai is expected to dive deeper into performance specs, power options, and more.
