It’s always exciting when a car manufacturer teases updates to one of their vehicles, and the upcoming 2023 Ford Escape is no different. The Escape is a popular compact crossover with a surprisingly spacious cabin and a stylishly sporty design. The current model has a lot to offer, but there’s always room for more. The 2023 Ford Escape has been spied out and about with a refreshed new exterior look. While there is still a lot to learn about what Ford is up with the latest Escape, here is what we know so far.
An Exterior Facelift to Make the Ford Escape More Modern
The refresh for the 2023 Ford Escape starts up front. The model running around Louisville, Kentucky streets near its production facility has slimmer headlights to give it a sleek look and a more aggressive design for the front fascia. The grille now sits up higher on the front and has a prominent Ford logo in the center. Another big change is the LED light bar that runs across the front, attaching to both headlights.
The new ST-Line has a sporty central intake and body-colored painted cladding to give it a monochromatic exterior appearance. This trim will also have ST-Line badging on the alloy wheels and front fender, and when you make your way around back, you’ll see a revised bumper and newly designed taillights that sport an upside-down U.
Updated Interior Technology
It just takes a quick peek inside to see that there’s a new touch screen and new infotainment system. The touch screen looks larger than the 8-inch one in the current Ford Escape, and rumor has it that it will use an updated version of SYNC 4.
The new screen is not the only update on the new Ford Escape dash. The climate control knobs are gone, replaced by capacitive touch buttons at the base of the touch screen. You also won’t find physical audio control buttons in this new model.
What About the Power?
Ford knows when not to change a good thing, so you can expect to see familiar powertrains with the 2023 Escape. This means that the choices will most likely be a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that delivers 181 horsepower and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that’s good for 250 horsepower. These gas engines will be offered along with a hybrid and plug-in hybrid variant for fuel-conscious drivers. The current hybrid powertrain delivers 200 horsepower, and the plug-in hybrid bumps it up to 221.
Stay tuned to learn more about the 2023 Ford Escape powertrains.
