The LT part of the name stands for “Longtail,” and it isn’t something new for the McLaren brand of vehicles. This moniker has been used since 1997 when the great Gordon Murray improved the design of the McLaren F1 GTR for the GT competition season that year. What he did was extend the rear body to increase downforce and stability when this car was traveling at high speeds. While only ten of these Gordon Murray cars were ever made, the description of a longer rear became Longtail, shortened to LT, and this build is what makes one of these cars ideal for highway travel.

A glorious seven-speed dual-clutch transmission runs the power to the wheels to give you the speed you’re looking for.
The 765LT Spider weighs in at 3,60 pounds, which is 108 pounds more than the coupe version. That figure is still lighter than the convertible model of the 720S, and it certainly gives you plenty of power and performance when you get behind the wheel.

You might think the coupe and convertible versions of a car should be identical, save the roof that retracts, but that isn’t the case for the McLaren 675LT models.
