Delays, more delays, and further delays have pushed back the release date of the Tesla Cybertruck to an unknown date.
Originally scheduled to begin production in 2021, the timeline for production of this new electric truck from Tesla is not something we know now, which is probably an expected result for the brand. If you’re familiar with Tesla and new product launches, most of them have been pushed back at least once, some twice, and others even more. This might mean that an electric truck from another brand just might be the right truck for you to drive.
Numbers We Can’t See Just Yet
The new Cybertruck is expected to be built in the new factory in Austin, Texas, and it is bringing in numbers we haven’t seen yet. This truck is expected to offer owners more than 500 miles of driving range and reach sixty mph in less than 2.9 seconds when the tri-motor configuration arrives. We won’t be able to realize these numbers or truly imagine them until Tesla finds a way to make this truck and offer it as a vehicle that can be enjoyed.
Tesla is Truly Behind
The Tesla Cybertruck isn’t the only vehicle that has this brand behind the quoted goal. The Roadster and Semi Truck that were presented to us in 2017 still aren’t in the production phase just yet. When the Cybertruck arrives, it will be offered in a single-motor RWD layout that will cost $39,900 to start with. The next to arrive will be a dual-motor AWD setup with the top-tier, tri-motor AWD model that might not make it to the market until about a year after the base version shows up. For now, the top version is slated to be offered in 2023.
With No Date, Should Tesla Continue to Accept Deposits?
Thankfully, to secure your spot and reserve one of the new Cybertruck models for purchase, it only takes $100. You can put this deposit down on this truck and be in line for the truck you want to drive. This deposit is refundable, but with the production delays that seem to always plague Tesla, should this company continue to accept these deposits? While this could be a bit of an issue for some, to get in line and be on the list to receive this new truck is something that many people have chosen.
Pricing, Range, and Acceleration in this Tesla Truck
Eventually, there will be three different versions of the Tesla Cybertruck when all models arrive, which we’ve briefly covered. These three versions will give you some qualities that you’re looking for in a truck.
The base version will be the Single Motor RWD model that costs $39,900, and it will give you 250 miles of driving on a single charge with acceleration that can get you to sixty mph in 6.5 seconds.
In the middle, you’ll find the Dual Motor AWD version that will cost $49,900 that will bring a driving range of more than 300 miles and reach sixty mph in just under 4.5 seconds.
We already covered the driving range and acceleration of the Tri-Motor model that will come in at a starting price of $69,900.
Should Tesla Find a Reasonable Production Date?
The new Cybertruck has been in the news for a couple of years, and it should have a production and sales date, not be left in limbo. This is certainly true, considering several other automakers already have electric trucks heading to the market. The new GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is beginning production, the Rivian R1T Launch Edition will arrive very soon, and both Chevrolet and Ram will have electric trucks offered in the next couple of years.
With the landscape growing quickly, Tesla does need to put a date on this truck and push hard to make sure it will arrive on time.
This Truck Will Certainly Be Unique
If Tesla does ever get this truck into production and on the road, it’s going to be a unique offering in the automotive world. Just the look of the Cybertruck is unusual and futuristic. This vehicle brings a trapezoidal shape that is unlike anything else on the market. CEO Elon Musk has admitted in the past that this truck might not sell well, but it is something he is pushing forward with to have it offered in the market.
This new truck will have cool features that we can admire as well. A couple of these are the lack of door handles and four-wheel steering which will make this truck more agile and impressive when you take it for a drive.
So far, the Cybertruck has received more than 500,000 preorders, with people putting their names in line to have this new EV truck and enjoy what it might mean for their driving experience.
This Truck has Made the Rounds
If you’re bringing a new automotive product to the market, where should you take it to be reviewed? If you think that a new vehicle should be brought to Jay Leno to be reviewed and discussed, you’re thinking right. This truck was taken to Jay Leno to have him see this truck and what it can do. The Cybertruck has a retractable cover that can be kept over the bed to protect items and keep them out of trouble and out of the view of the public. Elon Musk has stated that he would like to reduce the size of the concept model of this truck by five percent to make sure it can fit into a normal garage, which would make it better for drivers to enjoy.
Are You Willing to Wait for the Tesla Cybertruck?
If you’re willing to wait for production and sales dates to arrive, you might be pleased to have the new Cybertruck and experience an electric drive in one of the most unique vehicles in the market. You can fall in love with the amazing shape, the bulletproof build, and the exciting futuristic feeling of this truck, but you have to wait for it to enter production to make your driving experience a reality.
